Welcome

Discover the fascinating world of bricks and tiles, experience traditional tile manufacturing and enjoy an idyllic cultural landscape that was shaped by the craft. The Ziegelei-Museum is the only museum of its kind in Switzerland. Here, your journey takes you from the ancient material clay to the most recent inventions of the still developing brick and tile industry.

The Zwergenwerkplatz is a nature-oriented playground and activity area for children where they may roam free and discover clay and nature.

The Ziegler-Beizli offers a choice of local products, home-made cake and delicious coffee, all of which you can enjoy on the shady terrace.

More information
Discover all the different facets of this ecological building material! Every year, our special exhibition is dedicated to another aspect, e.g. in the fields of art, nature or architecture.

The museum lies in the countryside, in the area of the former brick and tile works of the family Lörch. You may explore the original Ziegelhütte (brickworks) from the 19th century, a heritage site. Just in front is the Biotop, a nature reserve, which has developed in the former clay pit.

From time to time you may attend special courses related to clay working or manufacture and decorate your own «Feierabendziegel» ("end of work-tile") during an «Offene Werkstatt» (“open workshop”).
