Main exhibition
On the museum’s 1st floor, visitors are welcomed into the fascinating history of ceramic building material. Beginning in prehistory, the exhibition looks at the Greeks and Romans, the Middle Ages and finally the rapid developments of the modern era.
The exhibition showcases roof and floor tiles, bricks and clay pipes from various time periods. These objects are not all merely functional, but are decorated with symbols and texts. We hope visitors will gain a new perspective on these objects, made with a material that is often overlooked!
Special exhibition from 18 april til 27 october 2024
Brick Red… and beyond!
A highlight of this special exhibition is an encounter with the ‘Tilo’ project by artist Renée Levi, who collaborated with Swisskeramik to design the pediment of the Parliament Building in Bern in 2023.
Our extensive programme with guided tours, expert talks and workshops for all ages complements the exhibition.
